Buddhism Seminar for YAD Members
On 16th June, YAD team leaders Tina, Annjo and 9 committee members attended a seminar and discussion session with Venerable Abbess Manshin. Through which they shared the progress and experiences so from preparing the upcoming 2013 ANZBYC.
The provided ample time and opportunities for the youths to raise question out of concern for any possible difficulties they may have encountered while preparing for the upcoming major event. Everyone cherished this opportunity to diligently raise questions, and subsequently received patiently explained answers.
The youths are grateful for the temple to provide them the opportunity to have the responsibility of being core organisers for the event. This way North Island Fo Guang youth can unleash their team spirit and innovative thinking. They expressed the desire to use mutual support and friendly faces to welcome Fo Guang youths from Australia and around the world to actualise together the theme of “environmental and mental protection”
The Abbess gifted a mini book called “Essence of Buddhism” to everyone present and encouraged the youths to actualise the mottos of “3 goods”, “4 givings” and “5 harmonies” through the practice of planning, interpersonal connections and putting into action. All should understand the meaning of taking responsibility, discover one’s short comings through doing, learning how to correct one’s mistakes, and discover life’s bountiful values.
