Completion of Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Function
The Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Function was successfully completed to it’s 9th day on the morning of 2nd June. Filling the capacity of the Main Shrine, 250 devotees chanted the 10th fascicle of “Emperor Liang Repentance Text” under the guidance of Venerable Abbess Manshin. All merits accumulated over the past days of repentance were transmitted to all sentient beings, hoping them to obtain Bodhi.
Afterwards the Abbess praised everyone’s diligent effort over the 9 day period, not only was each person’s own calamities dissolved, but everyone also accepted the Dharma water to increase their wisdom. All those who has passed on would be reborn in Buddhas Pure Lands due merits generated from the Repentance service. Then the Abbess encouraged everyone to be proactive, take responsibilities and use a “can do” attitude to cultivate and adorn ourselves. Elevating our life’s value, allowing all that sees participates and those with diligence to obtain increase in Bodhi wisdom. The Abbess told everyone a story about the Buddha entrusting responsibility of looking after all sentient beings to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva after he enters Nirvana and before the arrival of Maitreya Buddha. This story is to remind us to make big aspirations as to reduce the work load for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. BLIA North Island president Dolly Tsai thanked the Abbess on behalf of everyone for leading the wondrous 9 days Dharma Function.
Asian Police Officer for the Manukau City police Justin Zeng was also present on the day. He thanked Fo Guang Shan North Island on behalf of Superintendent John Tim, and as well as appreciation for all the Fo Guang people who’s attended and gave blessings at “Everyday Heros” on 23rd February. The police forces are always grateful for the temple’s contribution to the community and promoting ideals of crime prevention and harmony. The Abbess expressed that Fo Guang people shall continue to support the police on building a safe and peaceful community.
