Discussion of “Festival of Culture Sharing” with Teacher from Mission Heights College
So far the upcoming “Festival of Culture Sharing” organised by the Temple has attracted the registration of over a thousand students from 4 local primaries and colleges. On 14th May, on behalf of Mission Heights College, teacher Jamie Kent came to discuss the event details with Venerable Miaoyu.
Jamie explained that there will be 150 students between 12-13 years of age attending this event. Through this festival her school hopes their students can receive the positive influence of multiculturalism, cultivate wholesome qualities and uncover confidence toward faith.
Venerable Miaoyu emphasised that the drawing/writing competition stemmed from viewing of Buddhist Cartoons is the best method throughout this event. Through their own participation of illustration and writing, the student’s understanding of Humanistic Buddhism can be clearly comprehended. She also hopes teachers and pupils can experience the benefit of “3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving”, therefore discovering the foundations of Humanistic Buddhist culture.
