Discussion with Baverstock Oaks Primary School Principal Regarding the Upcoming “Festival of Cultural Sharing”

01 / 04

On 7th May, Principal Mary Wilson of the neighbouring Baverstock Oaks Primary School visited the Temple in order to discuss with Venerable Miaoyu about the 3 weeks “Festival of Cultural Sharing”planned to start on 28th May.

This event will invite students of local Primary Schools to visit the Temple, where they will be toured through the Temple environment and art exhibitions. They will also be shown educational cartoons called “Through the Eyes of the Little Monk”, from which a drawing and essay writing competition will be held where the students can share what they’ve learnt from the cartoons. This cultural exchange will enable the students to understand the ideals of Humanistic Buddhism’s “3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving”, which will allow these local youth to develop right views and qualities for life.

Principal Wilson thanked the Temple for especially organising such a meaningful cultural event. She has confirmed there will be 700 students from her school to attend this festival on 6th June. She also hoped that Baverstock Oaks Primary School’s educational ideals can be shared with the Temple in order to promote together the connection between school education and religious education.
