Temple Tour for Visiting Elders – Value of the Contemplation of Faith
On 14th May, 34 elders from West Auckland’s “60’s Up Movement” came to visit the Temple.
English Sub-chapter Volunteer Edward Chan toured the retirees through the Front Shrine, courtyard, Main Shrine and, Pagoda, the “Way of Life Photographic Exhibition” and “8th Estuary Art Exhibition”. He also explained the functions of the Shrines and symbolism behind features such as the big bell and big gong, which expressed the meaning of Humanistic Buddhism.
Many of the first time visitors from the group exclaimed in astonishment that such a peaceful space existed in Auckland. Not only does the venue grant people a sense of peace and tranquility, it’s unique qualities also leads to contemplation of values of faith and the harmonious combination of traditional Chinese culture and Humanistic Buddhist culture. The elders also highly praised the elegant antique atmosphere of the Tea House and its delicious cuisines. Hence they cannot wait for the next visit when the cherry blossoms finally come out again.
