New Zealand Police Holds “North Auckland Regional Ethnic Liaison Meeting” at Fo Guang Shan

On 8th May, a “North Auckland Regional Ethnic Liaison Meeting”was held at the Temple by New Zealand Police. It was attended by 22 Officers from the Major Crime Team including Wally Haumaha, Wellington Police Superintendent; Inspector Rakesh Naidoo, Strategic Ethnic Advisor and Inspector Huri Dennis, Iwi Liaison Officer.

The meeting’s discussion centered on how to foster better co-operation with the local community, build better relationships with different ethnic groups, leadership development and social educational promotions, in order to strength police strategies for the next 3 years.

Superintendent Haumaha expressed that the ideals propagated by Humanistic Buddhism not only enriched the local culture, it also assisted the police to in better touch with society in order to provide service. He hopes the police department can continue to co-operate with the Temple in order to maintain social harmony.

Venerable Abbess Manshin was invited to recite Sutras and offer blessings for the meeting. She expressed that Fo Guang Shan will continue to support the police in order to propagate Buddhism’s positive energy. Together we shall create a peaceful and healthy society.
