After successfully conducted the 2014 Estuary Arts Exhibition at Howick's Uxbridge Creative Arts Centre, Manager Tony Morgan and his colleague Emma hold a re-run of the Exhibition at the Fo Guang Yuan Auckland Art Gallery on 11 May 2014. In his opening speech, Tony expressed his appreciation to Abbess Manshin for the opportunity which marked the third successful cooperation between the two organizations this year on arts exhibitions. Tony mentioned that it is essential to hold exhibitions at different locations and more so in the Temple as its peaceful atmosphere and tranquil ambient are conducive for the enjoyment of arts.
Abbess Manshin also welcomed the invited guests and approximately 50 visitors in attendance. She praised the Sculptures Exhibition jointly conducted with Uxbridge Creative Arts Centre at the Temple in March 2014 which had not only attracted many visitors’ compliments but also been well received by the communities. She reiterated that the Temple and the activities it conducts, while becoming popular with tourists, are primarily for the discovery and enjoyment of the local communities. She believes that the local communities have yet to discover many gems and treasures that lied within the local environments. The Temple is such an example where many in the communities are finding the Temple an ideal place for gaining inspirations, discovering inner strengths and gaining spiritual guidance.
Tony later introduced several distinguished guests to the audience. Among them were Kanwalijit Singh Bakshi List MP, Louise Pether Manager Special Exhibitions of Auckland Art Gallery, Terri Marchant President of East Tamaki Estuary Protection Society, Adele White Deputy Chair of Howick Local Board of Auckland Council and the winner of the Estuary Arts competition - Wei Lun Ha with arts piece Chinese Calligraphy Ink on Fabric, second winner - Brendon Sellars with arts piece Bird/STATE.
