In order to support Fo Guang Shan’s friends from the Korean Nam Kok Temple, on 4th May, Abbess Venerable Manshin led a delegation to support their Buddha’s Birthday Celebration. The group also included Venerable Juehao, BLIA President (North Island) Dolly Tsai and BLIA Committee Members, altogether 18 in attendance.

Upon arrival they recited Sutras and offered prayers of well wishes inside the Temple’s Main Shrine. Then they were warmly received by Venerable Abbot Tong Zhen and treated to tea and snacks. They were also given gifts of little Prince Siddhartha’s Cart hanging ornament.

The ‘3 Goods’ Babies were also brought along to represent “Do good deeds, say good words and have good thoughts”, which brought much joy to the venue’s festivity. Abbot Tong Zhen thanked Fo Guang Shan for bringing these adorable gifts of the 3 Good babies, for they added a vital touch to to Nam Kok’s Buddha Birthday Celebration. At the same time he also praised the mass appeal of the motto of “3 Good deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving” as promoted by Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

Abbess Manshin explained that the simple words of “3 Good deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving” were intended to remind everyone to apply Buddhism during their daily lives. Putting these things into action will enrich people’s mind. She also hope the visit of the ‘3 good’ babies can bring a piece of joy and affection to Nam Kok Temple, allowing the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism to be spread via friendship.
