New Year’s Greetings Family Visit – Aunty Feng Jen Pan

01 / 05

On the afternoon of 19th February at 2:00pm, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian, North Island BLIA chairperson Dolly Tsai, Trustee Lily and 10 other Fo Guang people arrived at the home of Aunty Feng Jen Pan to bring her New Year’s well wishes. The Abbess led the group to recite the “Medicine Buddha Mantra” in front of Aunty Pan’s home Buddha Altar, as well a gift of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s calligraphy work “Blooming flowers through all four seasons” and books “40 years of Fo Guang Shan history”.

Under the caring support of BLIA Trustee Lily Bernardo the now 74 year old Aunty Pan prepared delicious “Sweet Lotus Lily Soup” to the visitors, which cooled the summer’s heat and warmed everyone’s heart. Every Sunday Aunty Pan would attend the temple’s Dharma functions by taking the bus herself. She also diligently practiced chanting each day and night in accordance to the Dharma. Her house decorated with many of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s past New Year’s calligraphy slogans. This old Bodhisattva loves to visit and paying homage to the Buddha at the temple; even though her age prevents her from doing any volunteering work, but time spent at the temple are always joyful, comfortable and carefree. Hence she always cherishes and hang up every New Year’s slogan gifted from the temple. So everyone deems her a model Fo Guang person.

The Abbess praised Aunty Pan’s diligence on cultivation by reciting sutras and chanting the Buddha’s name, as well as practicing the “3 good and 4 giving”, thus influencing others to develop faith in Buddhism.
