New Year’s Greeting Family Visit - Elaine
On the evening of the 21st February, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juehao, Venerable Rulian, BLIA North Island chairperson Dolly Tsai, and 22 Fo Guang Trustees, committee members, regular members and youths visited the home of BLIA member Elaine to give New Year’s Well Wishes. Venerable Abbess Manshin led the team in reciting the “Medicine Buddha Mantra” to bless Elaine’s house, and gave her the gift of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s calligraphy “According to One’s Wishes”.
Elaine is happy to be a part of the Fo Guang family, and often takes her children to the temple to contribute. This helps to maintain inter-generational communication, strengthen family bond, and strengthen their faith of practicing Buddhism during everyday life. Besides cleaning the Ksitigarbha Hall, Elaine and her two daughters also help to take care of children from the English Dharma class, and patiently teach them Buddhism. With her talent for baking cakes, Elaine’s elder daughter Kimberly helps the Young Adult Division to fund raise. Today she cooked delicious treats for the visitors, using fresh fruits from the garden.
Venerable Abbess Manshin reminded everyone of July’s “ANZBYC 2013”, and this event’s opportunities to allow Fo Guang people to unleash their skills and team spirit. Each event gives us the chance to learn new experiences, courageously take responsibilities by being an “uninvited helpful friend”, and actualising the motto of “Buddhism depends on me”.
