New Year’s Greetings Family Visit – BLIA Advisor Peter Yong’s Home

On the afternoon of 17th February, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian, Venerable Miaoyu and 20 North and South Island members visited BLIA advisor Peter Yong’s home to express Lunar New Year’s Well Wishes. The Abbess led the group to recite the Heart Sutra and gifted Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Calligraphy “Auspicious star shines afar” to Peter. Then everyone sat in the garden to discuss insights from the recent “Offerings to Universal Buddhas and Celestial Kings” Dharma Function.

Everyone agreed that the Offering Services allowed all to experience wondrous joy. Many first time participants were impressed at the dignified decorations within, the delicate preparations of the cuisine and smooth proceedings by the Offering devotees. It’s great to see Fo Guang Shan can organise so many volunteers to accomplish such a grand Dharma function.

The Abbess expressed that Buddhism uses the ability to distinguish between rights and wrong to direct our practices, hence wisdom is always in accordance with the truth. Whether it’s sudden and great awakening or a gradual awakening, every understanding is a improvement. Do not let attachment make us into immovable lego blocks, one should be able to change attitude, learn to take responsibilities, follow Good Dharma Friends to advance courageously. Then success with be partnered with sincerity.
