New Year’s Greetings Family Visit – BLIA East 2 Sub-chapter Committee Member Feng Si Yu
On the evening of 18th February, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian, BLIA North Island chairperson Dolly Tsai and 25 Fo Guang people arrived at East 2 sub-chapter committee member Feng Si Yu’s home to express New Year’s Well Wishes. The hospitable hosts warmly received the guests with delicious Malaysian style vegetarian cuisines. The Abbess gifted Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s calligraphy “Auspiciousness” to express New Year’s blessings.
Everyone joyfully shared their experiences while preparing and volunteering during the New Year’s celebrations. East 2 sub-chapter ex Chairperson Lily expressed that since stepping down from the leadership position her life have actually become busier, because Fo Guang Shan’s business is her business! In order to be more dedicated, her own businesses are left to her children. This allowed her to understand Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s slogan of “Busy is nourishment” even more. So busy that there is no time to get old, so busy that life becomes richer and more fulfilled. Amongst the guests, two members recently returned to NZ in order to spend New Year with family, Si Fu Li and Jun Ching Chen expressed that this opportunity to be a part of the New Year’s well wishes family visit group is precious indeed. Not only are everyone impeccably dressed, they can also share life’s joys, proving that the Lunar New Year is not just the lonely affair of a single family, it is a happy and festive time to be spent with the wider group. Recently Indonesia also started to celebrate the Lunar New Year, with many shop fronts showing Chinese New Year decorations. Every year while spending time at Fo guang Shan through the New Year, it feels like a big family that’s unified and harmonious.
The Abbess encouraged everyone to be sincere, caring and easy going, thus nullifying pressure and stress, so joy can be shared, which are the most precious things in life.
