A Sumptuous Meal in Celebration of Mid Autumn Festival
On 22nd of September, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand organized a dinner event in celebration of mid autumn festival. It was a marvelous night with more than 150 people present including VIPs. Venerable Abbess Manshin and other BLIA members welcomed them with open hands.
Before the dinner began, Abbess kindly shared a few words with them. She mentioned in her speech that the temple will go under renovation from October to December lasting 3 months so the temple would be closed temporarily. However, propagation of dharma would still be continued despite that and she believed FGS South Island would be a better place after the renovation.
The feast was designed in a way that the guests were served in traditional Chinese banquet style. The 10 dishes prepared by BLIA members were fascinating and the guests were amazed.
During the dinner, there were various performances including music performance from our YAD members. Maggie who represented the YAD thanked
Abbess for giving them the opportunity to perform and mentioned that they will be organizing a musical feast next year to raise funds for YAD.
The dinner ended around 8pm and the guests enjoyed themselves very much. Some of them said that they were definitely going to miss FGS since they could only come back in 3 months’ time.
