Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Dharma Function

Fo Guang Shan (FGS) south island New Zealand held Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva dharma function on 3th August at 6.30 pm to celebrate the enlightenment day of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Fo Guang Shan New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin and venerable led more than 50 Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) members and devotees to chant the “Universal gate Sutra”, followed by flower and light offering ceremony. Everyone was utterly humbled by the solemn atmosphere.

Abbess shared the interesting events happened in “The 6th Asia Pacific Religions Conversation” in Wellington and the collaboration of humanistic Buddhism with other religions. Abbess also visited the ex Royal New Zealand Police Academy Headmaster superintendent Mike Wilson and chant the “Medicine Buddha Mantra” for him and explained the meaning of Amitabha Buddha as infinite light and life. This made the headmaster felt much better while listening to it and he learnt to live life with hope. Abbess also encouraged everyone to be diligent and tolerant as she would not tolerate sloppiness. Longevity buns and Dharani water were given to the devotees and they were invited to attend the opening ceremony of “Once upon a time” antique book collection exhibition and “Nunataks” Furniture exhibition.
