01 / 05

On 28th September, under the lead of member Alan Groat, 8 English sub-chapter members volunteered to provide car valet services to other members and visitors in order to fundraise for remediation of the South Island temple. From 10am – 2:00pm, they worked diligently and with high quality in order to deliver 37 shiny clean cars to their owners.

Alan expressed that since being touched by the fundraise dinner back in 6th September. ESC members all aspired to do their part by fundraise through this valet service. Not only will it raise funds, it will also give many people the opportunity to plant the seed of merit for supporting the remediation. This service will be running until December close to Xmas, so everyone are welcome to come and support this good cause.

Afterwards Venerable Miaoyu shared an informal talk with all the volunteers to share the day’s experiences in order to do even better for next time. ESC secretary Bruce expressed it’s honoured to be able to contribute to funding of the remediation work and fully experienced BLIA member’s spirit of team work. Member Eduard expressed that BLIA have given him many opportunity to work in a team environment, even though it was hard work, but he is filled with Dharma joy. Member Sebastian thanked the temple for giving everyone the opportunity to cultivate merit by supporting the remediation, hence experienced that “team is stronger than the individual”.

Venerable Miaoyu praised everyone for their effort and joyful giving. This allowed everyone to see local Buddhist’s enthusiasm and brings hope for localisation of Humanistic Buddhism in New Zealand.
