Auckland Probus Club Received by Fo Guang Shan’s Hospitality
On 23rd May 36 elders from the Ellerslie Probus Club came to visit the Temple under the lead of Ms Valerie Jackson, where they were warmly received by Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA (North Island) Vice-Chair Linda Daniell, ESC volunteers Alan Groat and Eva Liu.
Linda toured the visitors through the Temple ground, explained the functions of the Shrines and symbolism behind the “Merit Field” of the courtyard, the big bell and big drum and the vows and practices of the 4 Maha-Bodhisattvas. Then they were also guided through the “8th Estuary Artworks Exhibition” and enjoyed delicious cuisine from the Tea House.
The visiting elders expressed that they have benefited immensely from the Temple’s refreshing atmosphere. Not have this trip increased their knowledge, it also allowed them to experience the culture, art, vegetarian cuisine and educational ideals of Humanistic Buddhism. BLIA member’s sincerity and hospitality have also expressed to the visitors the results of 3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving.
