BLIA Members Cleansing Buddha Statues – Cleansing One’s Heart to be Joyful and Carefree

01 / 05

On 30th May, under the leadership of Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA volunteers joined together to meticulously wash and clean Buddhas and Bodhisattva statues, which will allow all who comes to pay homage to receive the same kind of purifying adornment. The volunteers would climb onto 4m high scaffolds to carefully clean every nook and cranny of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s features. Those who are not good with heights helped out by changing and refilling water buckets. This perfectly expressed BLIA’s team spirit; resulting in a brand new looking Front Shrine.

Under everyone’s diligent effort, the cleaning mission was accomplished within 6 hours. Everyone expressed that even though at the beginning, the job seemed like a monumental undertaking and that the process was tiring. But having witnessed the spotless forms of the cleaned Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statues, Dharma joy naturally flowed from everyone’s heart. It is as if they themselves have also received purification of hearts and discovered their true selves.
