Edukids Baverstock Pre-school Students Visits Fo Guang Shan – Loving the “3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving Little Prince”
On 21st May, 118 3-4 year old children from Edukids Baverstock Pre-school came to visit the Temple under the accompaniment of teachers and parents. They were warmly welcomed by Venerable Miaoyu, ESC volunteer Edward Chang, Ian Fatherley and Raymond Hardisty.
In order to promote the Humanistic Buddhism spirit of 3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving via joyful giving, special “3G 4G Little Prince” temporary tattoos were given to the children inside the Front Shrine. The young ones eagerly accepted these interesting tattoos with joy.
Besides guiding the visitors through the Temple’s tranquil environment, while inside the Main Shrine Venerable Zhiming also explained to the children meaning of Buddhist etiquette such as one half bows with joined palms, as well as meaning of 3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving. It is hoped this will plant seeds of Bodhi within their young minds. The tour volunteers also took them through the “8th Estuary Artworks Exhibition” and to ring the wishing bell. Even though they are still too young to follow instructions to the dot, but all were very orderly and focused while sounding the wishing bell, which touched all parents and teachers present, leading to praises of Buddhism’s amazing positive influence. They were very grateful toward the Temple’s meticulous preparations for this trip which benefited both young and old.
