01 / 05

Tibetan Karma Choeling Buddhist Monastery extended an invitation to a delegation from Fo Guang Shan, under the leadership of Venerable Juehao visited on 2nd March, in order to celebrate the Tibetan “Losar” New Year. Together with local and Tibetan devotees, they formed a congregation of 60 to conduct a New Year’s Day Dharma function, presided by Khenpo Nawang Sangay Rinpoche, where everyone chanted scriptures and recited words of prayer. This was followed by offering khata in front pictures of the Karmapa. Everyone then returned to their respective seats to recite Mantras.

After the Dharma function, everyone was treated to auspicious celebration meals and butter tea as well as exchanging New Year’s greetings through the phrase “Tashi Delek”.

The Rinpoche thanked the Fo Guang Shan Venerable and BLIA members for their visit and hopes to continue mutual co-operation in the mission of Dharma propagation. He also hopes for unity between all Schools, therefore allowing Buddhism to flourish and expand further in New Zealand.

On behalf of the temple, Venerable Juehao presented the Rinpoche with a gift of “2013 Fo Guang Shan New Zealand Annual Report” and invited members of the Monastery to join the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration on 13th April.
