Korean Naval Officer Visits Fo Guang Shan – The Mission to Propagate and Passing Down Buddhism

01 / 05

While on an educational exchange tour in New Zealand, 5 Korean naval officers visited Fo Guang Shan on 2nd March, accompanied by devotees from the Mangwolsa Korean Buddhist Temple in Auckland. They were received by Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian and members of the youth group. The visitors were first introduced to the currently exhibited outdoor sculpture artworks.

The Korean devotees said that this temple was especially recommended to the visiting Navy officers by Mangwolsa temple’s Abbot Tong Jen. They were encouraged to visit due to the temple’s pure and magnificent atmosphere. At the same time they also got to marvel at these creatively original local art works.

Abbess Manshin also acknowledged the wonderful friendship between the two temples. Every year they have mutually supported each other’s Buddha’s Birthday Celebrations. It is hoped this good relationship can facilitate a unified effort to propagate Buddhism in New Zealand, thus continuously fulfilling the mission of passing down Buddhism.
