Sunday Dharma Function – Methods to Obtain Happiness

The Dharma Function on 2nd March was attended by over 60 devotees, where the congregation recited the “Diamond Sutra” and “Prayers and Wishes for Dharma Functions” by Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

Afterwards Venerable Rulian gave a talk based on Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s work “Recipe for Happiness and how to reach a state of blis”. The article described the state of bliss is reached when one starts to turn negative thoughts into positive and actualise our good intentions. Life can become happy when we learn to simply our lives, becomes proficiently successful when dealing issues and other people, develop a mind that’s carefree and a body that is healthy. The Venerable continued by explaining recipes for happiness includes:
1. Speak some happy words every day, encourage ourselves to not become sad.
2. Commit some beneficial deeds to others every day, encourage ourselves to socialise with others.
3. Read some good books every day, encourage ourselves to develop our wisdom
4. Contemplate and observe the images of sages and saints every day, encourage ourselves to increase the kindness and beauty without our heart.

Venerable Rulian further explained methods to obtain happiness as being “contentment with simplicity, tolerate with compassion, can take responsibilities and let go of matters, be unselfish and selfless”
