Fo Guang Shan Invited to Join the Counties Manukau Police Pay Parade and Prize Giving Ceremony
The annual Counties Manukau Police Pay Parade and Prize Giving Ceremony was held on 7th March with the participation of over 400 officers. Special guests included Judith Colins, Minister of Ethnic Affairs; Len Brown, Mayor of Auckland; Peter Marshall, NZ Police Commissioner, John Tims, NZ Police Superintendent and Julia Lynch, Central Area Commander Inspector. Being the only external organisation that received invitations to this event, Fo Guang Shan’s delegation joining this event included Venerable Abbess Manshin, Dolly Tsai, President of BLIA (North Island), Venerable Juehao, Venerable Zhiming, BLIA Director Annie Ng and media staff Melody.
During the Parade, a procession of uniformed officers, plain clothed officers, members of the police dog squad as well as support staff marched in an orderly manner from the Manurewa Primary School to the Cosmopolitan Club, where they were formally inspected by Mayor Len Brown and Minister Judith Collins.
Commissioner Marshall thanked everyone for performing their important tasks, whether it’s keeping law and order or administration. Their dedicated attitude toward serving society has earning great accolade and recognition, especially for area of Counties Manukau. He also acknowledged that this is his last time to appear as Commissioner. Therefore he will cherish all the times that were shared with fellow officers and is much appreciative of all support given throughout his career.
In her speech, Minister Collins praised Commissioner Marshall for his dedication and commitment throughout his career in the police force and the government. All members of the force and the public should be proud to have had such an excellent Commissioner.
