8th Day of Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Function

The Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Function continued to it’s 8th day on the morning of 1st June. Venerable Abbess Manshin led a congregation of 200 to recite the 8th and 9th fascicle of the Repentance text. Pearl and Treasure offerings were made, representing obtaining wholesome roots. The main objective of the day is to repent with humility on behalf of all beings within the 6 realms of rebirth. Sincerely repenting to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, entrusting the Buddha’s empowerment to washing our past karmic transgressions. Then all merits are transferred to sentient beings of the 10 dharma realms, and allowing our ancestors to be reborn within the Western Pure Land.

After the function, the Abbess asked whether everyone is tired from the 4 hour function and all the prostrations made. Together everyone expressed that no fatigue was to be had, but rather it became easier with each homage paid to the Buddhas. The Abbess praised everyone’s diligent spirit and encouraged all to put their words into actions, thus bringing the heart of repentance to our daily lives. Continuously practice in accordance to the sutras and eliminate Karmic obstructions, thus allowing our mind and body to be at ease. The Venerable further praised the even better proceedings of this year’s Repentance Function, and wished everyone to be filled with Dharma joy and dissolve all grudges.
