Fo Guang Bodhi Class – Let go of all winnings and losses
On 4th April, BLIA Trustee Tina Hua Mei led 7 Bodhi class elders to read Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Letting go of all winnings and losses”. Within the “Samyukta Agama Sutra” there is a four line gatha that goes: “Winners have more resentment, the defeated cannot sleep peacefully, letting go of both winning and losing, one can sleep pleasantly.” If a person always fusses over winning and losing, success and failure, they will also suffer over gains and losses, thus can never be at ease. These issues occur on numerous cases like our career, our love life, our car race etc. But whether we win or lose, in the end we are still nothing but “ashes to ashes and dusts to dusts”, and cannot take anything with us. So if a person can let go of attachment to winning and losing, they will surely be able to enjoy their meals and sleep peacefully. If we do not fight for winning and losing within worldly desires, even if we lose at one time, we have already won a life time of satisfaction.
All the pupils have already lived through many decades, thus knows that detachment from greed and desire can lead to a satisfied and carefree life. By not fighting over winning and losing one can peacefully practice the Way, constantly monitor and take care of our mind and always hold a smile on our face. Actualize a beautiful attitude in our daily lives, thus sharing enabling this joyful wisdom to be shared with our friends and families.
