Passing on the Dharma

The Induction of Most Venerable Hsin Bao as the 9th Abbot of Fo Guang Shan was held at Fo Guang Shan Headquarters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 12 March 2013.

At the same time, The Dharma Transmission Ceremony for the 49th generation of Dharma disciples from the Lin-Ji Order of Buddhism was also held
.
Founder of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order Venerable Master Hsing Yun personally transmitted the Dharma of Humanistic Buddhism to seventy two of the 49th generation of disciples. These Venerables are also the second generation of disciples from the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order to receive the Dharma.

Abbess of Fo Guang Shan New Zealand Venerable Manshin was one of these disciples who received praying beads, Dharma scrolls and cassocks.
Buddhist school elders, honourable guests, BLIA members from all around the world as well as over 10,000 Venerables and devotees witnessed the solemn ceremony.

This was followed by the 9th Abbot of Fo Guang Shan’s induction where Most Venerable Hsin Pei passed on Dharma duties to Most Venerable Abbot Hsin Bao in presence of elders from various Buddhist schools and Thousands of faithful devotees. This induction marked another chapter in history and served as a role model for future inductions.

Venerable Abbot Hsin Bao vowed to follow Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s heart and ambitions in addition to leading both disciples and devotees to serve and develop Fo Guang Shan together, further propagating Humanistic Buddhism to the five continents around the globe.
