HK Elite Police inspector becomes a member of BLIA
On January 22nd Abbess and Reverends finally arrived after a 40 minute drive out to South Island North one chapter’s president Elsa Lee’s house accompanied by many Fo Guang people. Everyone felt so relaxed, peaceful and open minded after seeing her farm which has a size of 55 hectares.
Elsa and her Husband, Gary Hayes, used to serve in the police force in Hong Kong.
Elsa was an Elite Senior Inspector and Gary was a Chief Inspector. They bought the enormous farm when they migrated into New Zealand in 1997. Now they are living a peaceful, unaggressive life after they have experienced all the aggressive and fast paced life in Hong Kong. Their children, a son and daughter also have high academic achievements. Elsa is now very passionate in promoting activities for South Island Fo Guang Shan. She is a very active and passionate Fo Guang person.
Gary showed his hand made artwork creation of the fire stove to Abbess and all the Fo Guang people that showed up on this day. Elsa and Gary told everyone that normally some people will think that living a life in a farm is very remotely quiet and very isolated, but this is not true. The nearby domestic pets and wild life birds are their friends. After darkness falls they make fascinating and interesting sounds. Just like a symphony orchestra.
Elsa was given a “Ji Xing Gao Zhao ” calligraphy, a “ Unwavering Advancement Despite Life’s Twists and Turns Leads to the Attainment of Happiness and Wisdom” scroll,
The Star and Cloud book and New Zealand Fo Guang people report. Elsa and Gary were thankful for Abbess and the Reverends and all the people who showed up on the day for the visit to their home and for bringing such a happy atmosphere to their farm.
