New Year Day Pilgrimage and Outdoor Sutra Scribing
As New Zealand is situated at the very end of Eastern hemisphere, FGS South Island was honoured to be the first FGS temple among others to carry out a pilgrimage and outdoor sutra scribing on the 1st day 2013. Venerable Jue Xi and Venerable Miao Yu led the 40 BLIA members and Buddhist followers in this auspicious event and the morning was commenced by chanting the Heart Sutra. Apart from doing this they also carried out three-step worship along Kilmarnock Street and Harakeke Street. While doing this, they continuously recited Namo Amitabha. Altogether it took about an hour to complete and was followed by sutra scribing in the temple.
Venerable Jue Xi was pleased that the BLIA members and fellow Buddhists had the determination to attend the event despite the fact that FGS South Island was still undergoing repair. Although the occasion could not be held in the Buddha hall, being able to participate in such event was considered a blessing itself. Aside from that, she encouraged those who were present never to succumb to hardship and continue to strive for success. A simple, yet sumptuous meal was provided after Sutra scribing. All those who present were extremely grateful towards the Venerable for their kindness and thoughtfulness.
