Buddhist Wedding For Kiwi Couples
On 12th December, the married couple Mr Nathan Tomas Buttling and Miss Nicola Kay Harpur were blessed by Fo Guang Shan (FGS) New Zealand and become husband and wife in a special Buddhist Wedding ceremony. The Wedding ceremony were held in Kaipoi's Wilson's Mill Garden which located 40 minutes drive from Christchurch city. Fo Guang Shan Venerable Abbess Manshin were invited as the wedding celebrant, Temple supervisors Venerable Jue Xi, Venerable Miao Yu, Venerable Rulian, Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) President See Shen Lee, about 10 BLIA members attended and more than 60 family member and friends attended.
with the lead of the Abbess, Venerables and best “boy” and bridal, the Bride Nicola were accompany by her dad. They crossing in between the tree and to the red carpet and also symbolised toward the next stage of the journey of life. Abbess and venerables lead the recitation of the “Incense of Praise”, “Heart Sutra” and also reading the verse “Prayers for A Buddhist Wedding” written by Master Hsing Yun. Abbess later given dharma talk “Ways to get along”. The crowd were given applause where they agreed statement that quote by Venerable Master Hsin Yun which stated that husband and wife should encourage and respect each other on all time. Abbess giifted the couple with the praying beads after they exchange their wedding rings which humble the couples. Family member and friend witness and praised the majesty wedding with a simple present way. The married couple appreciated for abbess, venerables and BLIA member have fulfil their wedding and marks the new chapter of their life toward happiness.
