Counties Manukau Police Annual District Leadership Team Strategic Day Held at the Temple

The “Counties Manukau Police Annual District Leadership Team Strategic Day” was held at the temple on 26th May, hosted by Superintendent John Tims, joined by over 28 officers. They were received by Venerable Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao and BLIA volunteers. First they listened to the Abbess’s report about the recent “Festival of Culture Sharing” where over 1500 local primary and college students came to visit.

Then the Abbess lead everyone to recite sutras and offer prayers for this event. Through the Buddha’s words of wisdom, it is wished that all in attendance will be blessed with awareness and inspiration to come up with more strategies. Superintendent Tims gave gifts of photograph frame to the temple on behalf of the police, in order to thank the temple for all the contribution to society with Humanistic Buddhism.

Superintendent Tims expressed the temple has been choosen as the venue for this meeting is because it’s tranquil atmosphere will great aid everyone’s thinking process to help come up with better strategies to serve society. He also praised the Abbess for her leadership to make this temple a warm family like place for everyone.

The day’s strategic agendas included:
1. How to tackle traffic accidents by providing education to drivers, families and especially young people about the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on driving.
2. How to expand better co-operation between the police and the community. It is hope a special group can be established to directly deal with youth.

The police also made bicycles as gifts orphaned children and their foster families, hope they will all have confidence in the police that they are looking after the interest of the public. The children’s touching reactions were unforgettable.

Superintendent Tims praised the “Festival of Culture Sharing” for spreading positive energy. Under the leadership of the Abbess, the temple provided benefits to the kids through 3G4G. The police should also adapt the spirit of 3G4G to give the people are safer community.
