Baverstock visits the temple for “Festival of Culture Sharing”
On 19th May, Principal Mary Wilson of Baverstock Oaks Primary led over 400 students and teachers to visit the temple. They were welcomed by BLIA volunteers where tour guide Annie Ng explained the functions of the temple and meanings of 3G4G. The police provided support with officer Piho and Nail Tappley to give the students a humorous speech.
The day’s activities included visiting the estuary art exhibition, 3G4G temporary tattoos, watching Buddhist cartoons, questions and answer competition and tasty cakes cooked by the volunteers. The children laughed happily at the cartoon “old man does good deed”, thereby leaning how to apply 3G4G.
Venerable Miaoyu taught the kids how to make lotus origamis as well how to say auspiciousness in Chinese as “Ji Xiang” when greeting people.
Venerable Zhiming also reminded the students about the meaning of 3 good deeds and 4 kinds of giving by asking them questions about this topic. To this many kids answered enthusiastically, winning pretty gifts and putting the concepts of 3G4G deeper into their consciousness.
Finally all teachers and students thanked the temple for providing this meticulously planned day full of worthwhile meanings and values. They will surely let their families and friends know about the temple.
