Appreciation Dinner Party Hosted by the English Sub-Chapter
On 17th January, an Appreciation Dinner Party was organised by ESC. The night’s delicious meal was personally prepared by Venerable Miaoyu, ESC Chairperson Stuart Morrison, Advisor Lesley Ruki-Willison and other members. Guests invited included Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao, other Venerables and other BLIA Members, altogether 60 people in attendance.
Advisor Lesley explained that: “This is the first time that that ESC has the opportunity to personally cook for everyone. This is in order to thank the temple for providing a magnificent and pure venue for everyone to learn and practice Buddhism.” Lesley expressed that even though ESC has less members than other sub-chapters, everyone feels they were treated with equality, respect, tolerance and unity.
ESC Chairperson Stuart introduced every Committee Member. He also reaffirmed the determination to continue the support to localise Humanistic Buddhism as well as thank BLIA Advisor Dolly Tsai for all her dedicated contributions to BLIA through her 2 consecutive terms as BLIA North Island President. She is a role model to all BLIA Members.
ESC have also presented special gifts of hand-made lotus lamp holders to the temple and Advisor Tsai. These finely crafted gifts were meticulously made by ESC Vice-chair Eduard and Secretary Sebastian, which took them over 70 hours. Such sincere gesture of offering has touched everyone present.
Venerable Juehao talked about ESC’s diligent and continuous Weekly Meditation and Dharma classes. Not only have everyone obviously improved in their practice, they’ve also recruited many new members to join the localisation of Humanistic Buddhism.
