01 / 11

On 1st January, under the witness of Venerable Abbess Manshin and over 200 BLIA committee members, a BLIA North Island Handover to New Chapter President and Chairperson and Certification of New Leader Advisor Consultation Board ceremony was carried out. President Dolly Tsai passed her title onto the new president Stephen Xu and became a member of the Advisor Consultation Board.

Advisor Tsai thanked all the guidance and patience provided to her over the years by the temple’s Venerables. She also encouraged all to cherish the Fo Guang Shan family, so that we all can continue to propagate Buddhism and support the temple together.

New President Xu thanked everyone for their support and the confidence provided to him by the Abbess. Despite being inexperienced, he reaffirmed he will work hard to learn and accept all challenges to courageously lead BLIA to achieve future goals.

The Abbess spoke in recognition of the achievement obtained by the hard work from all the directors and committee members over the past 3 years. She hoped everyone will continue their important mission with renewed vigour and spirit of giving. She further shared some words from the Ch’an School: “Not recognising our original face before been given birth by our parents is as lamentable as mourning for one’s deceased mother.” To encourage everyone to ceaselessly search for the real meaning of life and uncover one’s potentials to exemplify Buddhism’s true power.
