Completion of “South Island Temple Remediation Car Valet Fundraise”
English sub-chapter’s 10 weeks car valet fundraise for remediation of the South Island temple was completed on 29th November. This activity managed raise over $6000 by washing over200 cars.
This fundraise was originally proposed by BLIA member Alan Groat. It began on 28th September and was held every Sunday between 9:00am – 3:00pm. The service provided included external washing, interior vacuuming and in some cases even helping to smooth out body scratches and fix safety issues on the car. Quality of the valet was highly praised by the customers for its meticulous quality and very good worth for value.
Afterwards, Venerable Miaoyu organised a get together meal to thank all the members for their time and effort. This valet service actualised the spirit of the Bodhisattva where faith in the Dharma is practice in real life and Buddhism is spread among the local community.
This was followed by a heart to heart chat with the Abbess where the new ESC chairperson Stuart Morrison shared thoughts on the successful fundraise. The good result didn’t only come from the power of team work, but also due to protection of the celestial guardians, which ensured every Sunday had fine weather.
