Saturday Meditation Class

01 / 05

On 22nd November, the weekly Saturday Meditation Class continued with 9 members of the English sub-chapter under the guidance of Venerable Miaoyu, where the group meditated under the flowing cherry blossom petals.

While surrounded by the hymn of “Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva” drifting the Main Shrine for the Dharma Function commemorating the 15th Day of the Lunar Calendar. Venerable Miaoyu expounded the Pure Land Dharma Method to the students. This was followed by everyone practicing slow walking meditation through the courtyard while contemplating the Buddha’s name and visualising blossoming multi-coloured lotuses under the feet.

Venerable Miaoyu further explained that chanting the Buddha’s name can settle one’s mind, raise right thoughts, subdue wondering thoughts and plant the name of the Buddha deeply within our consciousness, therefore planting Bodhi seeds for future Buddhahood.

Being first timers experiencing the Pure Land Method, everyone expressed it was very beneficial. They’ve all realised that practicing Buddhism isn’t just meditation and theoretical learning, but mutual practice of Ch’an and Pure Land Methods can truly delivery and protect one’s thoughts.
