Fo Guang Shan Invited to Elam Graduate Show 2014

01 / 05

Auckland University School Elam School of Fine Art’s Graduate Show 2014 was opened on 28th November. This show will include Nim Flora Chan who will also be exhibiting her work at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery 1 on February 2015. She invited Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery 1’s Curator Venerable Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao and BLIA members to browse exhibited pieces at the Elam Graduate Show on 29th November.

Flora is a bachelor graduate from Elam especially fond of ink painting. She showed the Fo Guang Shan entourage her work. She explained that her work emphasises space before image. All her ink paintings try to express their artistic values through their placement and angle, whether it’s hang on walls, draped on the floor and inserted into a corner. Her exhibited pieces awe the audience through their visual appeal and ability to make one contemplate. They expressed a combination of eastern and western artistic influences.

Flora also showed the visitors entries from other artists from the faculty.

Afterwards the Abbess agreed that an artist needs an “eccentric” attitude to express their creativity and to show off self-reflection and wisdom in life.
