New Zealand Race Relations Commissioner Visits the Temple
On 23rd November, NZ Race Relations Commissioner Dame Susan Devoy visited the temple with Inspector Rakesh Naidoo. They were welcomed by Venerable Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao, BLIA North Island President Dolly Tsai, Working Young Adult Division Leader Stephen Xu and BLIA committee member Sally Wong. They were lead on a tour through the temple, the art exhibition and offered lights inside the Main Shrine.
Dame Devoy thanked the temple the meticulously prepared breakfast and the hour long tour for the spirit. She praised the temple‘s pleasant atmosphere which allows the mind to feel peace and tranquillity. She hopes to work with the temple in the future to further the goal of multi-culturalism and educating the young.
The Abbess gave the Commissioners gifts of the “2014 BLIA Activities Report”, “Human world” and “16th ANZBYC Report”. She also informed her about the temple’s recent “Festival of Culture Sharing” where over 1500 students visited the temple to learn about Humanistic Buddhism.
