The annual “Auckland Medal and Awards Ceremony” for the NZ Police was held at the Vodafone Events Centre on 7th November. It was attended by the Maori King Tuheitia Paki, District Commander Superintendent Mike Clement, Wellington Superintendent Wallace Haumaha, Manukau Superintendent John Tim and over 300 members of the police. Venerable Zhiming and other members of BLIA were also invited as representatives of Fo Guang Shan.

Superintendent Clement thanked the medal receiving officers, public servants, social workers and the general public for assisting the police to ensure safety and harmony for our society. He hopes to see more heroes in New Zealand to help those in needs as well as for all officers to continue their protective duties with bravery, passion and determination. Superintendent Clement also stepped up to thank the public for their assistance for the police, which included Fo Guang Shan.

After a solemn Maori ceremony, the award commenced where meritorious officers displaying bravery and excellence in the line of duty stepped onstage to receive medals of recognition. The ceremony was completed after performances from the Police Choir.
