Transitional Life After Earthquake on FESTA
The Festival of Transitional Architecture organised by the Christchurch City Government fell on the Labour Day long weekend in New Zealand. Starting on the 26th of October for 3 days, the festival showcased the transition of architectural design, building materials recycling and reusing and the future blueprint of the city. The President of Buddha’s Light Island Association South Island New Zealand See Shen Lee, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) south island supervisor Venerable Jue Xi, Vice president Louisa Kuo led a team of 14 people to join the event.
The festival and exhibition was Jointly organised by local and world-class artists and enterprises, with the aim to strengthen understanding and confidence in architectural structure and design, and to introduce to residents some of the unconventional building designed from recycled wood and material by the artists. BLIA South Island will be keeping in close contact and connection with the future developmental plan of Christchurch, and strengthen relationship with the government with mutual exchange and collaboration in the hope of furthering its service to the community and develop stronger engagement with the rebuilding effort of Christchurch.
