01 / 10

The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) North and South Island NZ committee joined the BLIA Third International Committee meeting in Hong Kong on the 9th October. Over 1500 BLIA members gathered at the Fo Guang Shan Hong Kong on the 10th October for the Opening Ceremony. On the 13th October, members travelled to Fo Guang Shan Da Jue Temple in Yi Xing China, where the Venerable Master Hsing Yun gave a talk encouraging everyone to “find themselves back”. The BLIA members listened the wisdom dharma word of Master Hsing Yun.

Amongst the many guests who attended the welcoming dinner were the Former Abbott of Fo Guang Shan Taiwan, Venerable Hsing Pei, BLIA World Secretary Venerable Tzu Rong, Vice President of BLIA Headquarter Mr Wu Bo, Hsiong and Mr Seng Ching, Yu and Hong Kong Under Secretary for Home Affairs Ms Florence Hui Hiu-fai. Both Vice President of BLIA Headquarter were giving their speech during dinner.

The host, Da Jue Temple not only held a welcoming dinner, but also an international performance and more than 20 multicultural food stores. It was a night of visual and gastronomical feast. The Grand Master welcomed everyone to come back often to Da Jue Temple, the ancestral temple of Fo Guang Shan. It has the warmth of a home, the comfort of the Dharma, and the care of the Buddha. The Grand Master told the audience that was ordained here 75 years ago and he thanked all the devotees who helped to restore the ancestral temple. The visit was of a special significance because of the importance of tracing back to ones’ roots. The Grand Master reminded the audience that to gain enlightenment and awakening is to find our inner true nature.

The master then used the theme of “the aspiration of Humanistic Buddhism is realised by BLIA Members” as the keynote speech, encouraging all BLIA members to join together in realising our aspirations together, and bring home the joy of Dharma, happiness and connection to China, where we will all one day return to reconnect with our inner nature.
