Keep NZ Beautiful Save the Earth with Action
In conjunction with ‘Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week’ established by the ‘Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society Inc.’ and the Christchurch City Council, on 25th August 2013, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island President SeeShen Lee and Vice President Louisa Kuo led 21 BLIA members to carry out a rubbish picking day out as an environmental improvement and educational focused activity. Members drove to the riverbank of Avonside and started picking up garbage with other environmental volunteers. The Christchurch earthquake has resulted Avonside to ground subsidence and erosions, making the area not suitable for living. Praises and support were given by the by residents and drivers along the river. With the spirit and encouragement from Fo Guang Shan founder Venerable Master Hsing-Yun, “Environment and spiritual reservation”, BLIA members are to fulfill in Keep NZ Beautiful Week every year, contributing the community a cleaner environment with joy.
