Medicine Buddha Dharma Function
The annual Medicine Buddha Dharma Function was held on the morning of 27th October. A congregation of 150 recited the “Original Vows of Medicine Buddha of Crystal Radiance Sutra” under the lead of Venerable Abbess Manshin’s resonating voice.
Afterwards the Abbess explained the meanings behind Medicine Buddha’s title which reads “Medicine Master of Crystal Radiance Tathagata”. The word “Medicine” is referring to medicine for the mind. Amongst Buddhist terminologies is a phrase called “Agada”, which allude to that Buddhism is a medicine that can cure greed, anger and ignorance. We take the right prescription for the dusts in our mind, and then by using Buddhist teachings as the framework for our thoughts, life will certainly have more wisdom. The word “Radiance” represents illuminating light, which can pierce darkness. It can brighten our heart so we will have the Dharma whether we are dealing with issues or people. Just like the phrase “A room that’s endured 1000 years of darkness can be instantly illuminated by the lights of a single lamp” we can allow ourselves to have stainless translucent thoughts like lapis lazuli, thus endlessly passing down the light. Hence everyone should cherish the condition of this Dharma function, allow the Dharma water to nourish our life.
Then the Abbess showed everyone a video clip about the magnificence of the Re-built “Great Enlightenment Temple” in Main Land China, which is the temple where Venerable Master Originally ordained.
