NZ Primary School Visits Fo Guang Shan

01 / 05

On the noon of 10th September, 55 pupils from Mission Heights Primary arrived at the temple under the guidance of 3 teachers and 7 parents. The visitors were welcomed by Venerable Miaoyu, English sub-chapter committee member Vicky Chang, and volunteers Ian Fatherley, and Raymond Hardistry.

They were toured through the temple garden and Shrines. Symbolisms of the Big Bell, Big Drum, and Buddha statues were explained to them. Afterwards delicious meals were savoured inside the Water Drop Cafe.

Teachers and parents all thanked the temple for such meticulous preparation, not only did it allow the students experience the temple’s harmonious tranquillity, it also allowed them to admire the magnificence of Chinese Tang Dynasty architecture as well as the meaning of flowing water on the way to the Pagoda. This trip allowed them to experience Chinese Buddhist culture’s deeply profound influence.
