The Second Day of Amitabha Dharma Function

01 / 05

Second day of the Amitabha Dharma Function continued on the morning of 17th November at 8 am. 120 devotees congregated within the Main Shrine, guided by Venerable Abbess Manshin recite Amitabha Buddha’s name with diligence. Through joyfulness, sincerity and compassionate solemnity, it is hoped to be harmonised with Amitabha Buddha, improve along The Way and increase in both merit and wisdom.

Afterwards the Abbess explained the meaning and varieties behind Transference of Merit. This Transference is referring to:
• Returning Merit back to the self to Transfer to others
• Returning from the limits of existence to Transfer to the limitless of empty space
• Returning wholesome deeds done now to Transfer to support a brighter future

This Transference also means “Storage”; for after every morning and evening chanting sessions, and all Dharma functions in various temples, there will also be Transferring Merit at the end. This allows wisdom and compassion to exponentially grow, transcend duality, and able to deal with issues with agility. When practicing Buddhism, besides abstaining from doing all that is evil and always doing what is good, it’s even more important to purify our mind. By adorning our mind we adorn ourselves, which enables the future achievement of an adorned Pure Land. Utilising Amitabha Buddha’s 48 Vows as motivation to nurture our embryo for sainthood; allowing the Buddha’s teachings and guidance by good Dharma Friends to encourage our Bodhi Mind. Supporting each other through strength of the masses to uncover our intrinsic nature’s Buddha, intrinsic nature’s Dharma and intrinsic nature’s sangha, which are of absolute purity.
