The second day of the ANZBYC – YAD session Group discussion, 13th July 2013

01 / 14

The young woke up at 6:20 am to prepare themselves for an exciting day. Part of the daily routine will be a morning chanting at 7 am, and followed by a walking mediation then breakfast.
After breakfast, each group of the young will be assigned a chore like washing the dishes, tidying up and others. This will make them aware doing household chores is not only making their own bed or merely putting the dishes into the sink.
The YAD Group discussion began at 9am, led by the former YAD leaders, Mr Hiking Liu, Miss Stacey Weng, Ms SeeShen Lee, Mr James Low, Ms Ellen Wong, Mr Paul Yang, Dr Jill Yu, Miss Linda Chiang. The age gap of former YAD leaders and the participants is about 5-10 years; hence these former YAD leaders are able to relate the challenges faces by the youth.
The participants are divided into 4 groups. The topic of the YAD discussion is My Path. There were 5 factors to consider which will affect the life of the youth. The 5 factors are the family, their education, their career, their interpersonal relationships and their future path.
After this YAD group discussion, they were glad that they are not alone when faced with challenges, and there is always a solution to them. And they also know the bad decision-making will lead them to suffer the bad consequences.
