13th July – Q & A session with the Inspector Rakesh Naidoo
The presence of police inspector Rakesh Naidoo has intrigued the youth. Duration of 20minutes the Q & A which was setup last minutes at the temple, after the high tea at Stamford Plaza hotel.
The few of the questions asked by the youth is about
Q1) his opinion of the vegetarian, Q2) what advice will you give to a young Buddhist if he is caught in the situation to kill someone to stop a crime from happening, Q3) his most horrific case he had handled, Q4) his choice as a law enforcer, Q5) the working relationship between the NZ Fo Guang Shan Q6) his opinion on the ethnic quota for the police force.
The replied of the inspector Rakesh, he likes the Buddhism philosophy of being a vegetarian is to respect life. A2) to kill someone is a very difficult thing to do. Unfortunately we lived in a complex world with some crazy people. There is a thin line between to protect or to cause harm. A3) The case or situation has always horrified him is the child abuse; it is very traumatic to see the inhumane act still exit. A4) His choice to be a law enforcer is due to his character; he has the personality of uphold the righteous. A5) The working relationship between the Police force and the NZ Fo Guang Shan temple because of the same goal, the Humanistic Buddhism, live in the community and serve the people. A6) this is due to the diversity of the ethnic groups in New Zealand has required the law enforcers to speak a different language. By far, the requirement of the police recruitment is based on the skills and ability to solve crime.
There will be a workshop conducted by the police force on 14th July. The purpose of the workshop will give the youth a guideline and useful advises.
