Mother’s Day High Tea Affair at Water Drop Cafe
To celebrate Mother’s Day, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand hosted a High Tea Affair at the Water Drop Cafe for the weekend of 13-15th May. Other attractions around the temple included an Ikebana Floral Arrangement Exhibition in the main shrine, Bathing the Buddha, Light Offering and a local artist drawing portraits for people.
The Water Drop Cafe broke its visitor number record over the weekend, crossing the 400 mark for the first time, with 32 group bookings specially for this High Tea Affair event. Diners felt lucky to have had a wonderful meal in this fine high tea setting, especially the mothers and their family who were celebrating a very warm and happy Mother’s Day in the cozy environment.
Quite a few of the participants came specifically to see the Ikebana Floral Arrangement Exhibition. They say that the presented work was very creative, using various natural styles to match carnations, roses and other flowers into beautiful arrangements. The Ikebana teachers are diligent indeed. Besides that, there were also three very skilled local sketch artists available that weekend to do some quick pencil sketches of people.
FGS South Island New Zealand went to great lengths this year to create many enjoyable Mother’s Day events. The High Tea Affair was met with great praise and many customers said that they would bring their moms to come revisit next year if it were to be held again.
