Continuing English Meditation Classes

01 / 08

The Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand English Tea Meditation class on the 13th of May, led by BLIA members Ding LihSon and KokWei Low, with 12 English speaking participants taking part in a series of guided meditation exercises such as Taichi, Walking Meditation, Sitting Meditation and Tea Appreciation.

The delicate tea appreciation session was the most interesting to participants, as they could savour the aroma of the tea whilst calming the body and mind. Some of the students asked the question of how long and what are the steps to become a tea meditation practitioner. The answer is that it involves a good amount of learning and guided training to serve good tea mindfully and with a positive attitude. A lot of practice goes into become gentle and not feeling rushed or anxious in the process of pouring tea. The BLIA teachers also reminded students to maintain a grateful attitude, and to occasionally remind themselves to practice self-pamper and relaxation techniques even during busy work schedules, so that the body and mind can recharge itself.

After the class ended, temple staff wished the participants a Happy Mother’s Day weekend, as well as a Happy Buddha’s Birthday, hope everyone can develop on their wisdom and earn many merits through bathing the Buddha.
