Visit by Sancta Maria College Director of International Students

01 / 02

On the 3rd of December, Sancta Maria College Director of International Students Ms Rosemary Gilles paid a visit to the temple. She was warmly received by Venerable Miaoyu.

They discussed about future co-operation and co-curricular activities involving both the Buddhist temple and the Catholic school.

Rosemary is responsible for international student curriculum and co-curricular activities. She felt that the Ch'an meditation in Buddhism helps a practitioner to alleviate pressure from a busy lifestyle. She hoped that one day, she could invite Abbess over to provide Ch'an meditation classes to the teachers and to formulate plan for temple visits by international students.

Rosemary also found the differences between Buddhism and other religions, such as the law of cause and effect, re-birth etc. She praised the wisdom, equality and freedom of Buddhism, and hoped that in future the Abbess could organise seminars and provide guidance to the school teachers on equanimity and temperament.

On behalf of the Abbess, Venerable Miaoyu thanked Rosemary for her visit and presented Master Hsing Yun’s book on '366 Days of Wisdom". Venerable briefly outlined the book’s significance, and hoped that the book could be widely distributed to schools, libraries so that more readers could benefit from the Master’s wise words.
