Manukau Police Superintendent Visits Fo Guang Shan
On 22nd December, Wendy Spiller; Manukau Police Superintendent visited the temple to discuss the upcoming third annual “Festival of Culture Sharing” with Venerable Abbess Manshin and North Island BLIA Vice-Chair Sally Wong. They discussed how the police can promoted “3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving” to the kids, what interesting questions and answers, competitions and prices they can have for the event. The temple invited the police to help out with traffic management and safety with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations and Buddha’s Birthday in May. The Abbess thanked the police’s effort at promoting 3G4G to local schools and wider community, which will plant good seeds and reduce crime to improve social harmony.
Superintendent Spiller decided to draw a Dharma Word during the visit, resulting in the advice: “One will definitely receive if they are able to give; harvest can only come about from sowing seeds.” These words of wisdom from the Venerable Master in 2015 truly amazed the Superintendent, which will become her work motto.
