2015 Fo Guang Shan South Island New Year’s Exam

On 1st January, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) members welcome the new year with ‘2015 New Year Day Sutra Copying Cultivation & Buddhist Exam session’ with a pure and sincere mind. Temple Supervisor Venerable Jue Xi lead 50 BLIA members and devotees in FGS Cloud Water Cottage with morning chanting session, having the ‘Eight Great Awakening Sutra’ copy session and also conduct with ‘The Hundred Matter of Sangha Community’ Buddhist exam.

‘The Hundred Matter of Sangha Community’ which used as study material in 2014 Weekend Buddhist Class. The members have gained a lot of wisdom and knowledge through the classes, they willing to take the exam to certify their learning results.

The members that split in 5 groups to participate exam and this year exam questions have more diversification than previous year. All member participated group with positive and fun attitude. The Senior Youth Adult Division (YAD) members have performed outstanding in the exam as they revised with sleepless nights. Therefore, they earned their championship in this exam with a merit performance. The group that led by BLIA south Island New Zealand President See Shen, Lee which earned the title of ‘The best teammate’ as they have positive and active co-operative teamwork. Both teams received Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Literature and Buddhist chanting CD as encouragement.

Venerable Jue Xi also gives full answer to the member regarding the exam question, which makes the session much informative and interesting. Lastly, Venerable Jue Xi gave everyone a new scroll written ‘Auspicious beginning of Peace and Harmony’ by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. BLIA Member stated that by joining cultivation activity, which makes their body, mind felt peacefully and also built up a solid path toward Buddhism.
